History:
Lady Rozaria was born on a ominous midwinter’s night to Lord and Lady Ni Catháin of Liore. As a child she wanted for nothing and received an exemplary education. The Catháin family was—and still are—one of the wealthiest and most influential families in all of Avaria. They amassed their excessive amount of wealth from the Liore mines, which provide a seemingly never-ending stock of gold, iron, and other valuable metals. The Catháins supply the majority of the iron for Avaria’s arms and have been one of the crown’s chief financial backers practically since the war began.
The Catháins are an ancient and great family of magic, tracing their bloodline back even before the founding of the kingdoms. To keep their bloodline pure, they’ve been wedding their distant relative or into other families that possess magic. The female members of the family inherit their magic, and Rozaria is one of these women. When her magic manifested, her mother and grandmother, both powerful and adept sorceresses, trained Rozaria. Roza took to her magical gifts quickly, and by the time she reached womanhood, she could perform even the most complicated spells without breaking a sweat. The family also discovered that their daughter possessed an extra gift that had not manifested in the family for several generations. She had inherited the gift of remembrance, the ability to see into the past.
In Rozaria’s teenage years, Lady Ni Catháin became with child once more, however the fruits of the labor only ended in tragedy. The child, a son, was stillborn, and her dear mother died from bleeding. Rozaria blamed her father for her beloved mother’s death since it was he who wanted a son so badly. Then by some stroke of misfortune, Lord Ni Catháin fell gravely ill and died within the week. Some said it was a broken heart, and others whispered that Rozaria poisoned the lord. Since no evidence could be found of foul play, it was ruled that the lord died of natural causes, and being his sole heir, Rozaria inherited everything.
There was one other who had a legitimate claim to Liore, her cousin Andras, and he did try to take her lands and wealth away by both proposition of marriage and by force. However Rozaria succumbed to neither, barring her cousin from her lands with magic. Andras even pleaded with the crown to intercede on his behalf, however the Avarian King did not want to risk losing the support of the Catháins and did nothing. Thus Rozaria became the unchallenged Lady of Liore.
