After some moments of silents, Viviane chose to speak. "I do not know the wish to see the world since mine is here, in Idias. I do, however, understand what you mean you don't want to be surrounded by corrupted souls. While it is true that there is many in the world, it is also true that there are many more with goodness and purity in their hearts. It is unknown who is which, until the brief moment when they let one or the other out. The moment you choose to push the evil away, you defend yourself. Not by bloodshed but by your will...making someone bleed for whatever reason is never the answer. You don't need weapons to defend yourself. All you need is your mind. That way you will be better than the one who chooses to maim." She turned around briefly to face the traveler. "Remember that."
Viviane became taken aback when Valiant flew to her, panicking as he told her what was wrong. "Basilisk, Mistress! Basilisk!" She looked back to Minna and sternly warned her, "Do not look it in the eye, no matter what you do!" She picked up her skirts and ran in the direction of it. She was going to attempt to control it using a magical secret an old Basilisk Keeper had taught her. She didn't want to hurt it in anyway. She just wanted to control it so that it wouldn't cause harm to her...or Minna.

As she guessed Viviane was understand as one could get to her plight. She was then given so words of wisdom. Nodding her head. She knew there where different kinds of strengths and she did her best to take to heart the woman's words. Might they serve her well to the unknown pearls that she was sure to face when she left Viviane's charge.
Minna joined Valiants panic amidst Viviane's calm. A what? Had she heard correctly. Her heart settled in her throat as she instinctively moved closer to Viviane. With her breath coming out in strangled gasps she almost didn't hear the words of warning. However once she heard them her head snapped down as she slipped out the twin blades. Familiar to her hand. Running as best she could in the dress she followed Viviane's feet. "What do we do?" She said almost gleaning up as she caught a flash of scales.
Part of her challenged her to look up. She wanted to see it. It was liking being told not to think about a pink elephant. It was all she could think about. Still she told herself over and over again that she didn't wish this to be the end of her journey. The hissing noise was unsettling enough let alone tripping. She rolled and covered her face. A small cry leaving her lips as she was certain the beast had spotted her.

"We wait." She replied, looking to the sky and then to the ground...anywhere to keep her gaze away from the Basilisk. She was waiting for the creature to sense their presence and once she was certain it did, she turned towards Minna. "Keep still." Viviane didn't give any of her plans away and never did, knowing full too well that announcing them could end in something going wrong. When she was certain the beast had become confused now that it couldn't sense them, she began working on the connection between their two minds.
The tension was strong as she broke through each barrier separating their minds. It was hard for her. And especially so considering how she had never stroke up a connection with the kind that stood before her now. Despite all her practice with connecting herself to animals in general, this time was different. She felt herself begin to grow weak as dizziness came over her. Yet she pressed on, eager to strike up the connection.
Now it was time to finalize the connection by looking at it straight in the eyes. Hoping that she wouldn't die from the brief eye contact, she lifted her eyes from the ground to meet those of the Basilisk. Her breathing became heavy...but she was sure her body hadn't shut down. She felt strong pains in her side as she stood there, looking straight at the creature. As the connection was starting to initialize itself, a gust of wind flew around her and the creature. The wind threw back her hood and her two long braids moved along with the wind which had now formed a circle around the two creatures. She heard the the loud squawks come from Valiant as he tried to urge her to stop...but she couldn't break the connection and especially since it had just began. She needed to finish it desperately no matter the cost. The Basilisk was strong, unwilling to let her through to its mind as it did its best to rebuild all of the barriers she had broken. But she was stronger...more determined than ever to complete the connection.

Minna didn't need telling twice. She remained stock still. Barley a muscle moving as she was just short of holding her breath. Trying to keep the wide eyed and panicked look from her face. Not that their was anyone to see it. Not quite sure where to focus her attention she looked to Viviane's feet. However it was hard to keep it up without truly being able to tell what was happening.
The bird Valiant appeared to be deeply distraught and Minna was having a hard time remaining still as the time crawled along. Biting her lower lip she dared to raise herself from the ground and regain her footing. All the noise he was making and the silence her guide was emitting was causing her to become deeply unsettled. On top of that the wind was picking up at an alarming rate.
She moved carefully and silently as she had learned to do in many of her midnight raids. Pursing her lips she controlled her breathing now. Forcing herself to relax and focus on what was happening. Viviane was intent on whatever she was doing and the basilisk seemed to be fighting her on every step. Still not meeting the beast eyes she shifted slowly so her back was turned to it. Allowing her to look sideways at Viviane and do her best to asses the situation. In all reality she could make heads nor tails. She opened her mouth as if to speak but thought better of it. Silence seemed important on her part.

After the worse had passed, Viviane let out a sigh of relief. The Basilisk was won over and was now fully in her control. She moved her bangs which had fallen in front of her eyes. She looked straight at the beast and understood how exhausted it was for she too shared in its exhaustion. She ordered it to step aside and to return to the place it came from. When she was satisfied that the creature would no longer be a threat to them, she announced that they were safe to continue on in their passage.
After continuing on in their journey for sometime, Viviane caught sight of the lake. "This way," she said as she led Minna down the path. She bent down in front of the cool water and splashed her face with it. She was still exhausted from what happened with the Basilisk and found that the touch of the water was quite soothing. She then led her charge to a small barge which remained at the shore. It had a lit lantern on the floor of the small boat. "When the days were good and not consumed by war, this was once the meeting point between the two Kingdoms. It was once meant to offer familiarity between Carneth and Avaria...but sadly this has been long forgotten."

Minna kept silent for a while. In awe of Vivane's display. She didn't even know where to begin with words. She supposed a thank you would cover it but that seemed like hollow words compared to how she actually felt about the ordeal. She was snapped out of her trance like state when Viviane led her down yet another path.
"What did you - no first - I mean thank you, but what did you do back there?" She said curiously. The want to know gnawing in her stomach. It wasn't hard to tell the act had taken a lot out of Viviane and Minna couldn't help but wonder if they should stop and recover strength.
As they pushed along Minna was soon met with an impromptu history lesson. Lucky she was quite happy to learn it. Soaking in what she had been told with a glint in her eye. "Not completely forgotten then. You remember." She tried a smile. Attempting to lighten the mood that didn't seem all that forgiven in the soon to be evening air.

Viviane looked over her shoulder at the question. "I broke down the creature's barriers and entered his mind. I bent it to do as I asked." Completing such a spell took a great toll on her physical form. It was a highly dangerous feat and while most would take a rest, she pushed on. It was the best way for her.
"You remember." Viviane looked back at Minna's words. "It's not me who remembers. I know since my father's family kept excellent account of everything that had happened.
She stepped into the barge and waited for her charge. When both were suited in their seats, she lifted the lantern and amplified it's automatic power. She put it on the front of the barge. The small boat began to move. Mist began to rise up around them, as it always did when one would take the journey across the lake. It was no problem seeing as how the lantern lit their passage, shielding their eyes from the mist.
