Magic

Magic is a hereditary gift and those who have it are Sorcerers. Sometimes it skips generations, sometimes only the females or males inherit it. Those who are members of ancient and powerful families may have a 'special power' such as mind reading, seeing the future, empathy, or shape-shifting. Those who are skilled due to strong training are able to do magic without uttering words while others who don't practice as much must use words to successfully complete their spell. This is also determined by who the family is, meaning how powerful they are. Also if one is from a non-powerful family, completing spells drains them from their energy and they must recharge before doing another. Ones from power families can do spell after spell without feeling any difference. Characters from a powerful family should be a noble; it extremely rare for a powerful families to be commoners.

Those with magic are able to feel the magic of others...thought they won't know what form it actually takes.
